Questions
Frequently Asked
What license do I need?
Every guest needs a valid Kansas hunting license. Waterfowl hunters also need state and federal waterfowl stamps. Licenses are available online through Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and we'll point you in the right direction when you book.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel your booking with more than 30 days' notice before your scheduled arrival date, you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit.
Do you provide shotguns?
We rent 12 gauge shotguns for $150 per guest on waterfowl hunts. Most guests bring their own — let us know when you book if you'd like a rental held for you.
How many hunters can you take?
Waterfowl hunts run 1–6 hunters. Upland hunts run 1–10. Larger groups, or groups wanting to split across both, are welcome — reach out and we'll work it out.
Are bird dogs provided?
Yes. Bird dogs work our waterfowl hunts, so downed birds get found.
Can I keep my birds?
Yes. Your harvest goes home with you, and bird cleaning is included.
Do I need lodging?
Not necessarily. Our all-inclusive packages include lodging and three meals a day, but we also offer hunt-only rates if you'd rather arrange your own room.
Can I hunt waterfowl and upland on the same trip?
Absolutely, and a lot of guests do. Ducks and geese in the morning, pheasant and quail in the afternoon. Let us know and we'll build the trip around it.
Is this a good trip for a first-time or young hunter?
Our upland hunts are kid friendly and a good introduction to wild birds. Tell us who's coming and we'll set the day up accordingly.
What if the weather turns?
We hunt in the weather we get — and in Kansas, some of the best days are the ugly ones. If conditions become genuinely unsafe, we'll talk through options with you directly.
What about gratuities?
Tipping your guide is customary and always appreciated, but entirely at your discretion. Contact us if you'd like guidance on what's typical.
How do I book?
Use the Book Your Trip button anywhere on this site to see live availability and reserve through Mallard Bay, or call or text us and we'll take care of it.
